Keycaps
Lost or broken keycaps can usually be easily replaced. Finding the correct part is pretty simple. Choose the type of switch, then the area of the keyboard, and then find the available keycaps.
Keyboard areas are defined as follows:
- Character keys are the keys you would normally find on a typewriter
- Modifier keys are Shift, Control, and Alt
- Enter and Editing keys are Enter, Backspace, Insert, and Delete
- System and GUI keys are Escape, the Windows keys, Print Screen, and Pause
- Navigation keys are Tab, the arrow keys, Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down
- Function keys are usually labelled F1 - F12, but may be replaced with specificially designed caps for certain tasks or programs
- The Numeric Keypad is located on the far right of most keyboards
- Lock keys are Scroll Lock, Caps Lock, and Num Lock
- Terminal keys are specific to terminal keyboard layouts, as opposed to PC keyboard layouts
